LWC Baseball hosts Cleary for weekend series

The Lindsey Wilson baseball team is set for a weekend series against Cleary (MI) on Saturday and Sunday.

The four-game series was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday but was pushed back. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 3pmCT while Sunday's action is set for NoonCT.

The Blue Raiders (0-10) are returning to the diamond after falling to Union (KY) 14-11 at Egnew Park on Wednesday.

Lindsey Wilson has hit for a .232 batting average so far this season recording a total of 34 runs and 69 hits, including 28 RBI's and four home runs. On the mound, the Blue Raiders have tallied a 10.95 ERA while pitching for a total of 74.0 innings. Lindsey Wilson has struck out 75 batters as well.

Steven Calderon leads the Blue Raiders with 11 hits on the season and a batting average of .324 on 34 at-bats. Calderon has also managed eight RBI's and two home runs.

Ethan Escue continues to lead the Blue Raiders from the mound with a 6.92 ERA. Escue has pitched for 13.0 innings and has struck out 11 batters in the process.

Cleary (0-0) open their season in Columbia, Kentucky after finishing the 2018 season 22-26 that included a USCAA Small College World Series semifinals appearance.

This weekend's matchup is the second time the two programs have met. Lindsey Wilson beat Cleary 6-5 on Feb. 26, 2018 at Egnew Park.
