Comer passes on Kentucky governor's race

U.S. Rep. James Comer has decided against running for Kentucky governor, but not before throwing some stiff jabs at Republican incumbent Matt Bevin. In a statement released late Sunday, Comer, who represents Western Kentucky, said he had "zero desire to run against a multimillionaire" for the GOP nomination.

Comer had said for weeks that he would enter the race if Bevin decided not to seek re-election. But Bevin filed late Friday with a new running mate, state Sen. Ralph Alvarado, R-Winchester, ending months of speculation.
