Joseph R. Ballou, 85, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 5:56am at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Karnes officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery, with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097.

Visitation is requested after 4pmCT on Friday, January 4, 2019.


He was born September 26, 1933, in Adair County, to the late Ed and Nannie Mae Loy Ballou. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Corrine Page Ballou on October 6, 2007, three brothers; Edgar, Lee & Albert "Happy" Ballou and two sisters; Florence Estes and Lucy Mae Ballou.

He attended Charity Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran and a farmer.

Survivors include:
  • Two sons & daughters-in-law, Anthony & Anna Ballou of Columbia, Mark & Stella Ballou of Murfreesboro, Tennessee

  • One sister, Joyce Curry of Columbia

  • Four grandchildren, Kyle (Leah) Ballou, Darren (Whitney) Ballou, Delena (Mason) Wethington, Megan Ballou

  • Four great-grandchildren, Dori, Holly, Kylea & Reese Ballou

  • Several other relatives and friends
Casket Bearers: Kyle Ballou, Darren Ballou, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Curry, Joe Rogers, and Mason Wethington.

Honorary: Danny Wilkinson and Darrell Loy.
