Dr. Arthur J. Hendrickson, 89, Columbia native, (1929-2018)

A military veteran and respected and well-known dentist in Maryland, he enjoyed fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay and in Florida but his real passion was tending to his farm in Columbia, KY.

Dr. Arthur June Hendrickson, 89, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2018. Services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Shiloh Christian Church, 239 Shiloh Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will begin at 10amCT, and the funeral service at 1pmCT, followed by a burial service with full military honors at the Reeves family cemetery on Reeves Rd.


Born on October 23, 1929, he was the son of Arthur William Hendrickson and Addie Mae (Reeves) Hendrickson of Columbia, KY.

Following graduation from Columbia High School, he enlisted in the US Navy as a dental technician (DT2). After the Navy, Dr. Hendrickson attended Georgetown University where he matriculated from undergraduate studies to Georgetown University Dental School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).

Dr. Hendrickson practiced dentistry for 25 years in College Park, Maryland. He is a past president of the Southern Maryland Dental Society and was inducted into the Dental Hall of Fame of Maryland.

He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay and in Florida but his real passion was tending to his farm in Columbia, KY.

Dr. Hendrickson is survived by his wife of 67 years Margaret Ann (Brown) Hendrickson; his sister, Mary Elizabeth (Hendrickson) Lawson of Campbellsville, KY; his six children, Mark Hendrickson of Loxahatchee, FL, Marcia Lambright of Flower Mound, TX, Alice Walter of Middle River, MD, Russell Hendrickson of Merritt Island, FL, Rita Montague of Cape Coral, FL and Joan Lawrence of Newport, NC. He had 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
