Proceedings of the quarterly Adair Heritage Assn meeting The Adair Heritage Association met Monday evening, December 17, 2018, at the at the public library. Present were regular members Mike Watson, Roger Meadows, Lee Ann Jessie, Ed Vincent, Ellen Zornes, Linda Waggener, Ted Caldwell, and guests Sammy Hughes and Rodney and Donna White. Mike Watson advised the group that he will be working with newly elected officials toward the goal of Adair County having a cemetery commissioner appointed along with a committee to watch over care and movement of all cemeteries and graves. Members agreed to recommend and back him for the position of commissioner. Retired teachers Rodney and Donna Banks White have moved home to Adair County and are getting involved in projects. They brought news of the Rosenwald schools, particularly the one beside the Santa Fee Church in Sparksville. They reported having met there with teacher Sammy Hughes back in the summer and were impressed with his vast collection of history around that school and the families who were part of it. They shared preservation needs and the heritage group voted to adopt the school as a project for assistance toward renovation. The Adair Heritage Association meets quarterly at the Adair County Public Library, Adair County Public Library, 307 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY.
