Columbia Baptist Church Christmas Play

By Ellen Zornes

One of the many church plays that took place on Sunday, December 16, was "The Nazareth Newsroom" at Columbia Baptist Church. The production was an entertaining back and forth from the newsroom using the modern vernacular of Tweets and Hashtags for those traveling to Bethlehem for the census to let the newsroom know what is happening on the road and surrounding fields.

Meanwhile the field reporters are talking to shepherds about the unusual stars and the one extremely bright one, to the wisemen traveling to see the baby and finally to Mary and Joseph. All this is interspersed with the choir of Nazarene travelers singing Christmas Carols.

It was a very entertaining and unique way to tell the Christmas Story.

After the production, the annual candlelight service was held with special Christmas music provided by Sharon Payne, Emma Grider and Bobby Lee, pianist.

The play cast members were: Aaron LaBarge, producer; Lauren Talley, Nathan Johnson, Lilly Quinn, Isaac Wooten, Trever Speers, Robert Hight, Evan Quinn, Mark Fudge, Rick Hagan, Damian Flores, Sorcha Wooten, Matthew Townsend, Evan LaBarge and choir members: Christen Wooten, Mark Fudge, Ellen Quinn, Carolyn Hale, Alycia Delaplane, Joni Jessie and Bobby Lee, pianist.
