LWC Wrestling rolls past Brewton-Parker 39-8

Mt. Vernon, GA - The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team defeated Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Monday morning at Gillis Gymnasium by a final score of 39-8 in Mid-South Conference action. The Blue Raiders were able to win eight of ten matches during the dual as they won three via pin falls, one on a major decision and a technical fall, two by decisions and one on a Baron forfeit.

Lindsey Wilson was able to jump out to a quick 22-0 lead as they were able to win the first five consecutive matches of the dual. Brewton-Parker was unable to send out a wrestler to start the match at 125-pounds giving LWC an early 6-0 advantage and Brady Moser (No. 13 at 133) then doubled the lead to 12 points when he pinned Lucas Nelson (No. 19 at 125) in 2:30.


Trent Johnson (No. 8 at 141) and Austin Ramsey both picked up decision victories in their respective weight classes. Johnson took down Charles Thurman (No. 20 at 141) 13-6 while Ramsey defeated Blake Beasley 9-2.

Mark Taijeron then defeated Dean Esquibel on an impressive 13-3 major decision.

Derrick Smallwood (No. 7 at 157) would again wrestle up a weight class at 165-pounds where he lost to Nathen Pristavec (No. 3 at 165) on a tough 13-3 major decision.

Brett Bradford added six more points to the LWC team score when he pinned Ryan Long just 18 seconds into the first period.

Brooks Climmons (No. 7 at 184) won the Barons second and final match of the morning when he won on a major decision over Lucas Miozza (No. 8 at 184) to trim the LWC lead to 28-8 with two bouts left.

Avery Buckman (No. 20 at 197) defeated Kelton Wileman on a pin in 2:07 asRyanel Brown defeated Chandler Butler with a dominating 18-1 technical fall victory at heavyweight to send the Blue Raiders to a 39-8 victory over Brewton-Parker.

LWC moves to 2-0 in Mid-South Conference action on the year.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on January 4 when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky for the NAIA National Duals.
