Letter: Question about the Christmas Parade delay

Trying to find a place to store a large float for 2 weeks is a daunting task! Can it not be moved just a week ahead?

As a long time citizen of Adair County the Christmas Parade has always been the kick off to the Christmas Season for me and my family. A tradition that we have attended for 28 years.

I have been both in the parade and watched as a bystander. For the past several years we have entered a float and have always had a great time working on them. Anyone that has ever built a float understands the time, effort, and money that goes into building one. But we love being able to see everything come together and make our plans into reality.

I know that no one can control the weather and the best decision was made at that time to call the parade off and reschedule. My question is why wait 2 weeks? Why was it not rescheduled for the next weekend? Trying to find a place to store a large float for 2 weeks is a daunting task!

That weekend is also very busy around the county. Lindsey has graduation that day, Christmas Plays and Church Christmas Dinners are that night. Can it not be pushed back up to the 8th? I would hate to see our groups hard work, time and money go to waste and I am sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. But there is no way we can keep a shop and a trailer tied up for 2 more weeks! Would the parade committee be willing to change the date to the 8th instead?

Thank you,
A Concerned Citizen
