Dr. Walter S. Reuling to be followed by William T. Luckey

In an unprecedented move to ensure long-range stability, the Lindsey Wilson College Board of Trustees named the college's President-elect on the same day it inaugurated its seventh president.

At 9 a.m. Dr. Walter S. Reuling was inaugurated as the seventh president of Lindsey Wilson. A little more than six hours later, the college's trustees named William T. Luckey to be the eighth President when Reuling steps down on June 30, 1998.

The actions were taken to ensure a smooth transition from Dr. John Begley's retirement for health reasons through the interim presidency of Dr. Reuling, to the beginning of the administration of President Luckey.

Dr. Reuling - who had been scheduled to serve as interim president through June 1998 - was named president by the executive committee of the college's board of trustees effective January 14. Reuling succeeds Dr. Begley, who celebrated the completion of a twenty-year term as President of Lindsey Wilson this year before being named the college's first chancellor.

Dr. Reuling came here in 1992 as the Lindsey's provost and dean of the faculty. He has a distinguished career in higher education and is credited with having greatly strengthened Lindsey's academic programs.

Bill Luckey said he is honored to be selected as Lindsey Wilson's eighth president, but also calls it a very humbling experience.
