Beware scammers urging help for family member in trouble

He said he wouldn't tell me which hospital my critically injured son was in without payment.

By Missy Renfro

The blood sucking scammers are out in full force...BEWARE!

I received a call from a Sgnt Mark Panelli with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department (859)444-5428. He said my son had been in a hit and run accident and was in critical condition.

He then proceeded to tell me they couldn't find an insurance card on him - which he keeps in his wallet - that he was unable to speak but they found his phone with my number in it.

He said given "Tyler" had no proof of insurance, I needed to pay $2,000 up front for the ambulance ride.

I knew right then it was a scam and offered to meet him at the hospital.

He said he wouldn't tell me which hospital without payment.

I will admit I spent the first few minutes of that conversation in complete and utter panic.

What has this world come to?!!!

TJ is fine by the way. Mom... is trying to not get in her car and track this pathetic excuse of a human being down and show him what an UPSET KY Mom with just a little bit of redneck in her is capable of!

I did call the actual Fayette County Sherriff's Department and reported it. They said they have had 1000's of these calls this week!
