Kayaking checkup of Arnolds Landing on Casey Creek

By Linda Waggener, led by guide Mitzi Bault

I admire my niece Mitzi McKinley Bault so much. She is a hero in so many ways to so many people - so it made sense to put my fear of deep water in my back pocket and follow her lead looking for fall pictures, bouncing over the backroads of Adair County to landings where she and her friends put in for their Kayaking journeys. What a trip!

Mitzi posted in her nightly journal:
It’s been a wonderful day!

This afternoon I went and picked up Linda Marcum Waggener. Yep, she got the hang of getting in a Jeep. And yes, Ricky Bault, we got mud on your Jeep. It was all in the line of work. Linda was taking pictures while I was driving.

The Snake Creek boat ramp is all under water and you could not get to Arnold’s Landing for high water.

It was just a beautiful day for pictures.

Hope all had a great day. Lot’s of love from McKinley Lane... 'Nite. - MB

And Mitzi was right, it was a stunning day and an incredible day for a jeep ride on Snake Creek Road and down to Arnold's Landing.

I'll let the photos to be posted and linked with this story tell the details of the journey, just sayin', she's a perfect partner with a natural eye for photography. If her uncle Ed had known how good she is, he'd have put her on the CM staff years ago. - LW

Mitzi Bault looks out over the deep waters of Green River Lake. She'd thought we could get out to Arnold's Landing, but heavy rains caused high water to completely cut off the road. - LW

High water blocking the road to regular Kayak put in

High waters blocked the road as can be seen in this photo. Mitzi Bault may be the only guide I'd trust to get this close - she thought we could get out to Arnold's Landing where she and her kayaking friends put in for their adventures on the water, but recent heavy rains have caused high water to completely stop travelers, even in Ricky's jeep. - LW

On the way to Arnold's Landing

Mitzi Bault was driving Ricky Bault's Jeep so we could travel the backroads and make plans for a future kayaking trip. This was the scene on a recent sunny afternoon as we bounced along the road parallel to Casey Creek where it would feed into Green River Lake and open up to Arnold's Landing. We would be stopped around the bend where high water completely covered the road. - LW
