Slider Center Schedule Includes State, Local, And Regional Artists

Lindsey Wilson College has announced its 1996 fall calendar for the W W. Slider Humanities Arts Series. This semester's events include performances by local and regional musicians as well as exhibits by state, local and student artists. Except where noted, all events are free and open to the public. For more information about any of the events, call (502) 384-8400.

Performing Artists

* Jennifer Rose, Appalachian musician and folk singer: 7 p.m. Oct. 7 in W W. Slider Humanities Center recital hall. A native of Berea, Rose will play a selection of original and traditional folk music on the guitar and dulcimer.

* Bill Evans, scholar and professional musician: 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in W.W.Slider Humanities Center recital hall. A resident of Owensboro, Evans will give a lecture-performance titled "The Banjo: Pickin' through History." Evans' appearance is funded in part by the Kentucky Humanities Council.

* Fall Choral Concert: 4 p.m. Nov. 3 in V.P. Henry Auditorium. Concert will feature folk, spiritual and classical selections performed by the Lindsey Wilson Singers, Lindsey Wilson Concert Choir and the Lindsey Wilson Chapel Choir.

* The McHugh-Oliphant Duo: 7 p.m. Nov. 5 in W. W. Slider Humanities Center recital hall. Residents of Louisville, Ky., the highly acclaimed duo will perform a selection of classical music composed for the violin and piano.

* Madrigal Feaste: Nov. 21-23 in Roberta D. Cranmer Conference and Dining Center. An evening of food and holiday entertainment presented in the tradition of an Elizabethan feast. For ticket prices, call (502) 384-8084.

* Robert Reynolds, pianist and Lindsey Wilson professor of music: 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in W W. Slider Humanities Center recital hall. A native of Campbellsville, Reynolds' solo piano concert will include several classical selections.

* Christmas Concert: 7 p.m. Dec. 10 in V.P. Henry Auditorium: An evening of traditional sacred Christmas music performed by the Lindsey Wilson Singers, Lindsey Wilson Concert Choir and. the Lindsey Wilson Chapel Choir.

Visual Artists

* Lindsey Wilson Art Faculty Show: Reception 1-3 p.m. Oct. 5 in W.W.Slider Humanities Center art gallery.

* Mark Passafiume: Reception 1-3 p.m. Nov. 1 6 in W.W. Slider Humanities Center art gallery. The show by the Louisville, Ky., artist includes drawings and paintings. The show runs Oct. 21-Nov. 21.

* Senior Show: Eigi Naramutsu: Reception: 12:30-2 p.m. Dec. 3 in W.W.Slider Humanities Center art gallery. The show by the graduating Lindsey Wilson art student includes paintings and ceramics. The show runs Dec. 4-Dec. 13.

Gallery hours for all shows are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday.
