LWC Soccer to host Shawnee State on Friday

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's soccer teams are set to host Shawnee State for senior night on Friday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY.

Kickoff for the women's match is set for 5pmCT and the men are scheduled to kick off at 7pmCT. Senior night festivities are scheduled to occur between the women and men's matches.

Between the two matches, 15 student-athletes from both the men and women's teams will be honored on senior night. Nine student-athletes will be honored from women's soccer. Six of the nine are varsity members and the other three are junior varsity members. The men will honor six student-athletes with five being varsity members and one being a junior varsity member.


The now No. 14-ranked Blue Raider women (6-3-2, 4-0-1 in the Mid-South Conference) return to action after a tough 2-1 loss against then No. 19-ranked Georgia Gwinnett on the road on Friday night. Amara Safuan opened the scoring for the match with a goal in the 45th minute to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead at the half. Georgia Gwinnett scored two unanswered goals in the 72nd and 76th minutes to put the game away.

LWC has slotted 27 goals this season with Alicia Thoresen continuing to lead the team with five goals. The Blue Raiders have 11 student-athletes who have found the back of the net at least once this season.

Shawnee State (5-9-1, 2-4 in MSC) visits Columbia after a difficult 8-0 road loss to Cumberland (Tenn.) on Sunday. The Bears have found the back of the 19 times this season with Alison Cook and Christa Harris both leading the charge with five goals and one assist each.

Friday's meeting between the two programs is the eleventh all-time. Lindsey Wilson holds a 10-0 record over Shawnee State.

The No. 8-ranked Blue Raider men (10-2-1, 4-1 in MSC) return to action after a 12-day break from play. LWC last saw action on Oct. 14th in a 1-0 loss to Cumberland on the road.

Lindsey Wilson has slotted 29 goals this season with Andrew Revanales continuing to lead the MSC with 13 goals on the season.

Shawnee State (7-10, 0-6 in MSC) comes to Walter S. Reuling after a 9-0 loss to Cumberland on the road on Sunday. The Bears have tallied 30 goals this season with Kevin deLange leading the attack with 12 goals and five assists on the season.

Friday's match marks the 12th meeting between the two programs. Lindsey Wilson holds a 10-0-1 record over the Bears. The last meeting was back on Nov. 2, 2017, where the Blue Raiders defeated the Bears 13-0 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
