Young Entrepreneurs Expanding Businesses This article first appeared in issue 36, and was written by Linda Waggener. Among the expanding communications businesses in Columbia is Sha-Vi Marketing, the "everything for your advertising needs" business, owned by Shamarie Claiborne and her partner Viola Benaitis. The two have recently relocated their offices to a new, larger location on the corner of Lindsey and Campbellsville Streets. They, along with associate Mark Karnes of Sign America, offer an array of advertising opportunities from computer graphics, web sites, digital duplicating, race car graphics, magnetic sign boards, banners, vinyl graphics, etc. Shamarie grew up here, the daughter of Jimmy W. and Patricia Harper, and is the granddaughter of Lucian Harper and of Pauline Rogers. She is married to Kevin Claiborne who works at the Billy Rice Body Shop in Egypt. Shamarie attended EKU and LWC and holds a degree from the Comupter Learning Center, Washington. She worked for the Pentagon before choosing to move back home to raise her family. Shamarie and Kevin have two sons, Dylan age 7, and Dusty age 3. Viola Benaitis moved back to Adair County to take care of her parents Luther and Melissa Willis, and she and husband Ray have remained here. In addition to her work with Sha-Vi Marketing, Viola is said to also read cards which sounds like another good story for future editions. This story was posted on 2001-09-15 12:01:01
