This program is designed to strengthen the leadership skills of current and future leaders, empowering them to make a greater impact in our community. The program runs from July 2025 through March 2026, with a graduation ceremony in April. Sessions occur monthly from 9 AM to 2 PM and provide participants with valuable insight into leadership, local government, economic development, and other key community topics. Participants will be responsible for providing their own transportation to all tours, which will take place within the local area. To successfully complete the program, participants are required to attend a Fiscal Court meeting, a City Council meeting, and participate in a community service project. The application for SOAR can be downloaded at SOAR Application (PDF). Applications are due by June 20, 2025, and selected participants will be notified before the program begins. Lanterns & Tombstones Tour at Bearwallow was a success Click headline for photos from the Bearwallow tour. Much of Friday, May 2, 2025, was a rainy, dreary, cool day. The Lanterns & Tombstones Tour with Dave Thomas and Mike Watson was scheduled to take place at Bearwallow Cemetery starting at 7pm. We were all doubtful, but hopeful, that the weather would break and the tour could go on. It was long awaited by many. We do not like to cancel our tours until the last minute, on the spot, and only if it is raining or storming. Friday was a typical wait-and-see evening. Folks started coming into the parking lot. The sky still shed drops of cold rain. We waited and by 6:50--normally when we would make the announcement--the drops ceased, or nearly, and the tour went on as planned. Here are a few photos of the event... --Mike & Dave, and our long-suffering spouses, Renea and Amy Click here to share, print, or bookmark this article. 2025-05-06 12:39:52 | Comments
