Governor honors Gill Scott at Thursday briefing By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen "Today we are honoring the life of Gill Scott, who passed away from COVID-19 on March 26. Gill was one of nine children, born and raised in Adair County. He moved to Louisville as a teenager, where he met and married his wife of 60 years, Mary," said Gov. Beshear at Thursday's news confernce. "Family was always his number one priority - he loved them more than anything. "Gill also loved being outdoors. It didn't matter if he was mowing the yard, or RVing with Mary and their dog Harley Dee, he was just happy to be outside. Gill loved God and family, and had a witty sense of humor with a knack for one-liners. "Gill's life changed forever after the 2018 passing of his granddaughter, Detective Deidre Mengedoht, while on duty as a police officer for the Louisville Metro Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary and the entire family. We hope Gill is reunited with his granddaughter, and together they are looking down on you all." 2021-04-16 07:52:25 | Comments | Printable version

April 16 is National Healthcare Decisions Day By Stacey Biggs T.J. Regional Health, along with other national, state and community organizations, are leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making---an effort that has culminated in the formal designation of April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). As a participating organization, T.J. Regional Health is providing information and tools for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives (healthcare power of attorney and living will) in accordance with Kentucky state laws. These resources are available at www.tjregionalhealth.org/patients-visitors/patient-information. "In healthcare, there are situations when we can't speak for ourselves, stated Shelly Southworth, Palliative Care Team Coordinator with T.J. Regional Health. This is a time to decide who you want to speak for you and what you want them to say when you can't make decisions and speak for yourself. If you have a car wreck, if you have a stroke, if something happens and we're suddenly incapacitated, do we want everything? Do we not? What if you don't want some things but not others... where is that written down? Who is going to say that for you? It gives you a voice in a conversation you otherwise would not have had a voice in."
