LWC Baseball swept by CU in MSC series Saturday By Charles Balcom Campbellsville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team was swept by Campbellsville in a three-game Mid-South Conference series with two losses on Saturday to the host Tigers at HIG Field. After dropping the opening game of the series 3-1 on Friday night, the 10th-ranked Blue Raiders (26-14, 7-5 MSC) fell 6-1 in the first game of the day on Saturday before blowing a five-run lead and dropping the nightcap 6-5 to the Tigers (22-11, 7-5 MSC). Lindsey Wilson managed just seven runs during the three-game stretch, collecting 17 hits on the weekend while stranding 14 runners. The Blue Raiders' three-game losing streak is the longest of the season. Lindsey Wilson had not lost two games in a row since the first weekend of the year back on Feb. 5. From U.S. Attorney's office Department of Justice, Eastern District of Kentucky LEXINGTON, KY (31 Mar 2016) - A former nurse at the federal prison in Lexington has been sentenced for smuggling tobacco into the prison, in exchange for payments from inmates. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Danny Reeves sentenced 47 year-old Michael Hardin, formerly employed as a registered nurse at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, to twelve months in prison, for bribery of a public official. Under federal law, Hardin must serve the entire term of his sentence; and at the conclusion of his incarceration, he must serve one year of home detention. Hardin will also be required to complete 400 hours of community service during his three-year term of supervised release. According to his plea agreement, from July 2014 to August 2015, Hardin smuggled tobacco into the prison facility for inmates, who paid him a total of $22,429 in return. The inmates used family members and friends to send the money to Hardin. As a condition of his plea agreement, Hardin repaid all the money he received. Official Kentucky 2015 highway fatality count released Fatalities up 89 compared to 2014; 2016 YTD down from 173 to 151 FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 4, 2016) - Highway fatalities in Kentucky increased last year, according to the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) and Kentucky State Police (KSP). There were 761 fatalities in 2015, 89 more than 2014. "The number of fatalities during 2015 will not discourage our agency from striving 'Toward Zero Deaths' in the future," said Tpr. Kendra Wilson. "We are utilizing real-time, digital traffic data to identify high crash corridors and increasing patrols and enforcement efforts in those areas."
