Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Knifley Woman Dies in Taylor County Accident By Larry J. Smith, Big Dawg Radio A Knifley woman died in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on New Columbia Road, Highway 55 South. Taylor County Sheriff Allen Newton told 99.9 The Big Dawg that Kristina L. Sult age 49 of Knifley, died while riding passenger in a 2004 Chevy truck driven by her husband Jeremy A. Sult, age 50 of Knifley. Newton said Sult lost control of his auto during the rainstorm, overturning in a ditch line near the Green River Lake Tail Water area. ACSO: Marion Co. man arrested for theft By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Saturday, August 7, 2021, the Adair County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of suspicious activity on KY West 80 approximately 2.5 miles from Columbia. Upon arrival, Deputy McCarol made contact with a Marion County man who stated that he was out of gas and was going to get some more and be on his way. The deputy observed a golf cart on the back of the truck with a sticker on the window that he was familiar with. The sticker was to the Green River State Park in Taylor County. A call was made to the park manager, and it was confirmed that they were missing a golf cart. The cart was confirmed to belong to Green River State Park, and the suspect was taken into custody. Coombs, Jackson to lead LWC Sports Information Chris Coombs has been named sports information director and Kyle Jackson has been hired as the assistant sports information director at Lindsey Wilson College. Coombs -- who has served as the assistant SID the last three years -- is promoted to replace long-time sports information director Chris Wells, who was recently moved into the role of associate athletics director. Coombs joined the Lindsey Wilson staff in 2017 where he served as a Sports Information Intern before moving into the program's full-time Assistant Sports Information Director role. He worked as the department's assistant SID for three years beginning in the fall of 2018 before being promoted. Youth Agricultural Incentives Program (YAIP) By Teresa H. Bright Adair County Cooperative Extension Service The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board recently approved $30,000 in Ag Development Funds for an Adair County Youth Agricultural Incentives Program. This program was developed to facilitate a growing need for a specialized program that would encourage youth to engage in and explore agricultural opportunities. This is a cost-share program, and youth must be enrolled in elementary, middle or high school, or home school and be at least 9 years of age on January 1, 2021. Applications for the Youth Ag Incentives program will be available August 10 - August 31, 2021 at the Adair County Extension Office. County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) By Teresa H. Bright Adair County Cooperative Extension Service The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board recently approved $172,675 in Agricultural Development Funds for the 2021 Adair County CAIP program (County Agricultural Investment Program) to be administered by the Adair County Cattlemen's Association. CAIP offers 11 investment areas that provide Kentucky agricultural producers cost-share assistance on practices that increase net farm income and opportunities to try new/innovative technologies or systems that improve farm efficiency and productivity. This program is a 50% cost-share program with a maximum funding of $1,500 per farm operation. Applications will be available August 10 through August 31, 2021.
