Carol Perkins: New beginnings and rebirth Previous Column: Cleaning the Woodpile By Carol Perkins I know exactly where it is. Upstairs in my mother's home in the wardrobe. Not a closet, but a wardrobe. This freestanding wardrobe sits in the hallway outside of my childhood room, although I didn't move upstairs until I was convinced no ghosts resided there. Inside this wardrobe, only a few inches taller than I am now as an adult, was where I hung my clothes. We had no upstairs closets. Most of my special pieces are still there. My senior prom dress, the red dress that I wore to the Beta Convention for our talent skit, and my pink Easter hat I wore when I was a senior are among the remaining pieces. Oh, that pink hat! Hats during the 60s were Jackie Kennedy's inspiration. LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 3/25/2021 By Amy Tomlinson Lake Cumberland District Health Department The Governor announced today that Casey County Hospital and Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Green will become COVID-19 vaccination sites. We are happy to report today that our new cases were smaller than they were on last Thursday, so our 7-day average incidence rate went down as well. So, we now have 3 counties in the "yellow-community-spread" category, Clinton, Cumberland, and Green; and 7 counties in the "orange-accelerated" range of community-spread: Adair, Casey, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne. None of our counties are presently in the "red-critical" range. Keep in mind, in countries like Brazil, India, France, Italy, and Germany we are seeing sharp increases. Also, states like New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania are seeing sharp increases. Therefore, please do not assume that the pandemic is completely behind us and take the vaccine as soon as you can. Also, until the vaccine is widely available, and a significant percentage of the population has taken it, let's all do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by wearing our face coverings, avoiding crowds (especially in confined spaces), social distancing when around others, increasing our hand hygiene, increasing our general sanitation, and by avoiding touching our faces. Statewide Testing Positivity Rate: 2.92%. Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2021-03-26 06:53:01 | Comments | Printable version
