ACSO: Additional charges follow Christmas Day incident From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, Adair County Road Foreman Barry Hamlett contacted Sheriff Brockman in reference to damage to a truck owned by the Adair County Fiscal Court. Upon arrival and investigation of scene, it was found that the truck stolen from the Kentucky Transportation Department's state highway barn on 12-25-23 had struck the vehicle. (CPD: Columbia man charged with DUI, theft of state vehicle) The vehicle ran through the gate and proceeded over an embankment where it struck a truck used by the Adair County Road Department. The collision caused considerable damage to both vehicles. Joseph Shafer, 48, was charged by Sheriff Brockman with an additional count of criminal mischief 1st degree and leaving the scene of an accident. The Adair County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation. This story was posted on 2023-12-28 08:36:44
