Letter: Veronica Arnold's Night Sky Photo Roldcat (name on file) writes: What Veronica and family saw that night while observing the night sky is what is known as a "Starlink train". The spouse was correct, they were low earth orbit satellites. On that particular night, the train consisted of 21 satellites that were launched by Space X from Cape Canaveral Florida on Friday September 1st. Currently there are just shy of 5,000 starlink satellites orbiting earth. The plan is to deploy as many as 42,000 of these satellites to complete the mega-constellation network of satellites that will provide internet service to the entire globe.Comments re: Star Gazing This story was posted on 2023-09-05 10:04:26
