Stanley Trent, Jr, age 44, Cumberland County, KY Stanley "Moe" Wayne Trent Jr, age 44 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Cumberland County Hospital. He was a former employee of Cumberland Valley Manor. He worked in the maintenance department and then transitioned into the nursing department working as a CNA. Whether he was providing direct patient care or ensuring the building was safe and running smoothly, he was a "Jack of all trades" who could, and would, help anyone with anything. He never met a problem he couldn't tackle or a person he wouldn't stop to help. Stanley was a man of deep faith and quiet strength, and was most at peace while sitting by the Cumberland River watching the water and reflecting on the goodness of God. 2026 Spirit of Columbia award nominations now open Download 2026-01-Spirit-of-Columbia-nomination-form (PDF) From Trey Stephens City of Columbia | Assistant to the Mayor The Spirit of Columbia Awards honor emergency responders in our community that have gone above and beyond the call of duty. The 2026 edition of the awards will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Columbia City Park pavilion. An organizational meeting was held at City Hall this week in order to begin planning for the 2026 edition of the Spirit of Columbia awards. This meeting was attended by several emergency agencies including Breeding Fire Department, Adair County Ambulance Service, Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department, and TJ Health Columbia. Nomination forms are available for pickup at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, during normal business hours. Basketball: Last second shot decides Battle of Highway 55 Campbellsville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team opened Mid-South Conference play with a thrilling 76-74 road win over Campbellsville on Thursday night, January 8, 2025, in the latest Battle of Highway 55. Three Blue Raiders scored in double figures, led by Kenyata Carbon's career-high 32 points, including the game-winning buzzer-beater. Latrell Kyles added 12 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Julian Cunningham finished with 10 points, four assists, and three steals. The win moves Lindsey Wilson to (11-4, 1-0 Mid-South Conference), while Campbellsville drops to (14-3, 0-1 MSC). Statement from AC Schools on threat investigation Adair County Public Schools sent out the following statement at 10:25pmCT on Thursday, January 8, 2025, about a threat that was investigated by school personnel and local law enforcement officers. No credible danger was identified. By Jason Faulkner, Superintendent Adair County Schools Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members, We want to make you aware that a report of a potential threat at Adair County High School was brought to our attention this evening. The matter was taken seriously and immediately investigated. Adair County Schools administration worked closely with the Columbia City Police Department, the Adair County Sheriff's Department, and the Kentucky State Police to conduct a thorough investigation. After careful review, the reported threat was determined to be unsubstantiated, and no credible danger was identified Based on the findings of this joint investigation, it is our determination that our schools are safe. We are grateful for the swift response and collaboration of our local and state law enforcement partners, whose efforts help ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. The safety of our schools remains our highest priority. We encourage anyone who becomes aware of potential concerns to report them so they can be addressed promptly and appropriately. Working together, we can continue to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all.
