Basketball: Lady Indians defeat Lady Scotties 63-34 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the Adair County Lady Indians throughly dominated the Glasgow Lady Scotties on the road and picked up a 63-34 win. The Lady Indians pulled ahead early and had a 20-point lead by the half which left the rest of the game pretty much without doubt. This win, paired with the January 7th win from last year, marks back to back wins for Adair County over Glasgow for the first time since 2012. The 29 point victory also marks the largest win for Adair County over the Glasgow Lady Scotties since at least 1999, when KHSAA has their earliest online records of the matchup. The Lady Indians certainly appear to be rolling now with back to back wins and as winners of three of the last four. They will look to keep on rolling as they host the Casey County Lady Rebels (4-10) at 7pmCT on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Tickets are available at hometownticketing.com. 2026-01-07 22:03:05 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports

Basketball: Indians defeat Scotties 62-56 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Glasgow Scotties 62-56. Glasgow got out of the gate ahead early, up one by the end of the first quarter, but the Tribe would power back to lead by eight at the half, 38-30. The margin would remain the same, 50-42, by the end of the third. The Scotties refused to go away, but thanks to solid play the Tribe would bag a six-point win over a good Glasgow team. Landon Blakey led the scoring with 24 points, followed by Tylin George and Dawson Gilbert with 12 each. Blakey also led the team in rebounds, with 12, followed by George with nine and John Shehan with seven. The team shot 47% from the floor and 25% from three point range. The Indians have now won six straight games and will look to extend their winning streak when they face LaRue County (10-3) on Thursday at the 2A Section 4 Semifinals at Marion County. 2026-01-07 21:53:45 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports

Letter: Price of Gas Roldcat writes: I can remember as a child in 1970, riding with my mother in her 1969 4-door Chevy Impala. She would pull up to the gas pump, a gas station attendant would come to her window and she would say, "give me a dollar's worth of regular". That would get her about a half of a tank of gas. The price was between $ .17 per gallon and $ .35 per gallon. If I'm not mistaken, those prices with inflation adjusted for today's dollars, prices today would be just over $3.00 per gallon.Comments re: Price of Gas 2026-01-07 10:34:47 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
