Shelbyville, Hollywood, Columbia share a moment in the news

By Linda Waggener

Thank you Mayor Pam Hoots for calling to say our Columbia Magazine family had representation on WDRB TV Wednesday morning when they featured the CM Shelbyville annex known as the Sixth and Main Coffee House.

Mayor Hoots said, "Your son Tom was on the news this morning!" The website will have gotten dozens of extra clicks throughout the day as I've watched it again and again. It made my day.

WDRB Tv features local owner's Coffee House

2023-02-01 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo clips from WDRB news coverage.
The city of Shelbyville, including Columbia natives Pen and Tom Waggener's Sixth and Main Coffee House, at left, made WDRB Tv news because famous movie folks are there working on a biopic being directed by super star Ethan Hawke called "Wildcat." Filming was done in Shelbyville Tuesday and moved on to Frankfort Thursday and Friday. The subject is American novelist Flannery O'Connor who will be played by Hawke's daughter, Maya Hawke. The car at right is one of the props in the movie which is set in the 1950s.

Letter: Teeth and claws in overdrive

Sharon Whitehurst writes:
Medicating a cat has to be one of the most formidable things we can undertake whether it’s a topical application [eyes, ears] or getting a pill or syringe full of liquid meds down their gullets.

They have no conception that we are trying to help them—teeth and claws go into overdrive. You’re nobody until a cat has hawked meds at you and shredded your hands! I hope Blue’s eyes respond to the drops or ointment.

Happy February: avoid scams in the month of romance

Romance scams are hot and it's not about love -- it's about money.

In one example, a military romance scam, the bad guy frequently adopts the online persona of an actual soldier - a romantic figure to some. Scammers operate on all social media sites like Facebook, or dating and chat sites, to study their marks and learn what they like.

Classes include the traditional three-week childbirth class, a Saturday childbirth class, and a breastfeeding-only class. Pre-registration is required. To register, please visit tjregionalhealth.org/events.
