Myra Ann Corbin, 70, Taylor County, KY (1951-2022)

Myra Ann Corbin, 70, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Omer Pierce and Edna Enyard Pierce, was born September 28th, 1951, in Taylor County and departed this life on Monday, August 1st, 2022.

She professed her faith in Christ and attended Southside Christian Church. Myra loved the Lord and played the piano at Southside Christian Church for many years. She loved going on family trips to Gatlinburg and spending time with her family. Myra also worked at the Fruit of the Loom for 28 years and Cox Interior.

KSP: Post 15 Monthly Activity Report for July 2022

During the month of July 2022, there were 19 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Green, Taylor, Marion, Washington, Adair, Casey, Russell, Clinton, Cumberland, Metcalfe and Monroe.

During the month of July 2022, there were:
  • 1262 Citations Written
  • 347 Courtesy Notices Written
  • 473 Complaints Answered
  • 153 Motorists Assisted
  • 47 Criminal Cases Opened
  • 149 Criminal Arrests Made
There were three fatal collisions during the month of July in the Post 15 area.

Cross Roads Quartet coming to Egypt CC on Sunday

Crossroads Quartet will sing at Egypt Christian Church at 6:30pmCT on Sunday night, August 7, 2022. Come enjoy the great singing provided by this well known local Gospel Music group. Afterwards there will be a home made ice-cream and cake fellowship. Everyone is invited!

Sammy B. Sexton, 80, Adair County, KY native (1942-2022)

Sammy B. Sexton, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

He was born on April 3, 1942 in Adair county, Kentucky to Loren and Edna (Compton) Sexton. Along with his parents, preceded in death by his brother, Bobbie Sexton; and his sister, Nancy Hagan.

Sue Stivers lived to build up and encourage others

The Adair County Homemakers are saddened by the passing of Sue C. Stivers. Sue served as an Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences for 43 years. Sue is remembered by her homemakers for her loving kindness and outstanding devotion to the Extension Homemakers organization. I have served in her former role for only six months. In that short time, I have heard countless testimonies of her selflessness and dedication.

Sue was personable, remembering the names of all 300+ Adair County Homemakers under her care. Homemakers comment frequently on how quick she was to visit or send a card when times got tough.

Music team volunteers to work for flood victims

Campbellsville, KY -- The Beacon Foundation and Campbellsville University present the Ichthus Music Festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 10 at Servant Heart Farm, located at 9533 Harrodsburg Road in Wilmore, Ky.

Many of the Ichthus volunteers are putting their energies to work a month in advance by helping the flood victims of Eastern Kentucky. Ichthus Volunteer Coordinator Sherri Buresh is leading a team to support those in need.

Senior services highlighted in meeting of Aging Council

The Lake Cumberland Aging Advisory Council met last week in Russell Springs for a department update and selection of new officers.

Independence for life as we age, with support for seniors, is the focus at the Lake Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living (LCAAAIL).

The special topic of last week's meeting of the LCAAAIL Advisory Council was how to recognize signs of elder abuse and how to help.

Proclamation for Adair County Little League All Stars with Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan. Congratulations to all for the job they did.
