Governor announces pay increase for social workers By Crystal Staley/Scottie Ellis Frankfort, KY - To thank the social workers for their amazing work and recognize the significant number of resignations the state is seeing, today Gov. Andy Beshear announced a pay increase and a plan to recruit and retain more social workers. The plan includes an immediate 10% pay increase for social workers, a pilot program that expedites hiring and a proposed student loan forgiveness program. "I thank all of our social workers here today and those working across the state," Gov. Beshear said. "In the best of times, the work our social workers do is among the most challenging and necessary efforts anyone can undertake. During COVID, this work has been twice as difficult and even more needed. With the loss of so many great workers, we cannot wait any longer to take new steps to recruit and retain our social workers." Basketball: LWC Men fall to Lee in exhibition By Christopher Webster Cleveland, TN - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team has a poor shooting night from the three-point line falling 85-59 to Lee (Tenn.) on Tuesday night. Elijah Jordan led the Blue Raiders in scoring with 14 points while shooting four for five from the free-throw line. Along with his scoring, Jordan collected four rebounds. Mark Edmond added 10 points and six rebounds. As a team, Lindsey Wilson shot just one for eight from the three-point line. Basketball: CU Lady Tigers win Battle of Highway 55 contest Campbellsville, KY - The Lady Tigers faced-off against rival Lindsey Wilson College in Powell Athletic Center Tuesday night. Campbellsville won the Battle of Highway 55 with a score of 93-60. The Lady Tigers stand at #1 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, while the Blue Raiders are currently receiving votes. The CU starters of the evening were Faith Lake, Lexy Lake, Ashlee McGeorge, Bailey Pedigo, and Courtney Pritchett. Campbellsville will compete next at Cumberland University (TN) on December 11th. The Mid-South match-up will begin at 2pmCT/3pmET. The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team will return home on Friday to take on No. 13-ranked Indiana Wesleyan before leaving for Puerto Rico next week. Farmers should apply for new agricultural exemption number Deadline for current farmers is January 1, 2022 By Sean Southard Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles is reminding agricultural producers about the upcoming deadline to apply for Kentucky's new agriculture exemption number. The deadline to apply for current farmers is Jan. 1, 2022. Under the provisions of SB 148, enacted by the 2020 General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Andy Beshear on March 27, 2020, all eligible farmers exempt from sales and use tax for the purchase of certain items must apply for and use their new agriculture exemption number when claiming applicable tax exemptions under KRS 139.481. The Application for the Agriculture Exemption Number, Form 51A800, is available at www.revenue.ky.gov under Sales Tax forms. Completed applications should be submitted by email to DOR.Webresponsesalestax@ky.gov or mailed to DOR's Division of Sales and Use Tax, Station 66, P.O. Box 181, Frankfort, KY 40602-0181.
