M. Lynwood Goff, 92, Adair Co., KY native (1929-2021)

M. Lynwood Goff of Louisville passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at University of Louisville Hospital. He was 92 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 2pmCT on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Wes Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia Cemetery, with full military honors presented by V.F.W. Post 6097.

Visitation is requested after NoonCT on Tuesday.

Reminder: Cram the Cruiser on December 6

A reminder that tomorrow, December 6, the Dollar General Store at 1450 Hwy 55 South Rd, Columbia, KY, will be participating in Cram the Cruiser with the Columbia Police Department.

Everyone is encouraged to drop off either a toy or non perishable food items at Dollar General between 8amCT and 2pmCT, and leave your donations inside a parked cruiser left by the Columbia Police Department. We would like to thank everyone in advance for your participation.

Basketball: LWC Men fall short against No. 16 Thomas More

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team surrendered 41 second half points falling to No. 16 Thomas More 66-61 on Saturday night.

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, traveling to battle Lee (TN). Tipoff is scheduled for 6pmCT.

Basketball: LWC Women fall to No. 3 Thomas More

The (RV) Lindsey Wilson women's basketball scored just six points over the first 15 minutes of the game falling 72-63 to No. 3 Thomas More (KY) on Saturday evening.

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team looks to bounce back as they travel to face No. 1 Campbellsville University in the Battle of Highway 55 on Tuesday. Tipoff is slated for 5pmCT.

Football: LWC Falls to Grand View in FCS Semifinals

The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team fell 34-28 against No. 3 Grand View (IA) on Saturday afternoon at Parnell Family Stadium in the NAIA FCS Semifinal.

The Blue Raiders had a chance to take the lead in the waning moments of the game. Grand View punted from their territory with 2:09 to play as Noel Patterson returned it 50 yards to the Viking 35-yard line. A shoestring tackle just prevented Patterson from taking the return for a score.

Christmas Parade 2021 draws crowds to Columbia Saturday

Christmas Parade 2021 - Winners


The 30th annual Christmas parade by the Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce was held Saturday, December 4, 2021 in parade-perfect weather. It started from the old Industrial Park on South 55, entertaining families in cars lining the road as it wound its way down Jamestown Street, around the Public Square, and ending on Burkesville Street.

Participants joining Santa and Mrs. Claus waving from the back of the Firetruck included the superstar ACHS Marching Band, ACHS Jr. ROTC and so many more around the theme of 'Home Town Christmas'.

Parade marshals were from 'Local Heroes' who stopped to light the Christmas Tree on the Square that is donated and decorated by Adair County FFA.

Judged participants winners are:

First place float - Pickett's Chapel Church.
Second Place - Bloomington Chapel Church.
Third Place - Columbia Church of Christ.

Non-floats:
First Place - Adair County FFA.
Second Place: Southern Nest Realty.

Out of town floats:
First Place - Russell County Jaycees.
Second Place: US All-Star Softball Champs 12U LL.

Janet Kay Bailey, 79, Metcalfe County, KY (1942-2021)

Janet Kay Bailey, 79, of the Big Meadow Community passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her home.

She was a member of the Pink Ridge Baptist Church and a retired cook from McDonalds in Edmonton. She lived her life putting God first in all things. She loved her family and her cats.
