Applications for CAIP program available 1-19 Aug 2016

Applications for the 2016 Adair County Agricultural Investment (CAIP) program are available beginning Monday – August 1st through August 19th at the Adair County Extension Office located at 409 Fairground Street in Columbia during regular business hours.

This program is a 50% cost-share program with a maximum funding of $1,500 per farm operation.

CAIP is designed to provide farmers with incentives to allow them to improve and diversify their current production practices. For information contact the Adair County Extension Office at 270-384-2317. - Teresa Bright, office manager

Oakwood Specialty Clinic hosts grand opening

Health care advance in Somerset, KY

SOMERSET, Ky. (July 30, 2016) - Oakwood Specialty Clinic, located on the Bluegrass Oakwood Campus, held its grand opening today in conjunction with its annual Celebration Day festivities. This new South Central Kentucky clinic will provide a central location for medical providers to serve the comprehensive health needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Nationally, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are recognized as a medically underserved population. The specialty clinic model sets a standard for other states to follow by creating a highly effective environment to address underlying concerns that improve the quality of life for individuals who may not be able to easily communicate information about their health and well-being.

Former Louisville medical technician pleads guilty to murder

LOUISVILLE, KY. (29 Jul 2016) - Today, Attorney General Andy Beshear and Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney Thomas B. Wine announced the guilty plea and sentencing of David T. Satterfield Jr., 36, for a 2007 murder.

In 2007, Satterfield was employed as a certified medical technician through an employment agency at Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (previously named Parkway Medical Center) in Louisville. While working at Parkway, Satterfield intentionally injected Parkway resident Marcelline Vale with insulin. Vale, who had no medical reason for the insulin, died as a result of the injection.

Marilyn May, 67, Taylor Co., KY (1949-2016)

She was a licensed practical nurse, whose career was at Adair Memorial Hospital, Westlake Regional Hospital, and in the office of Dr. A.G. Herrera. She was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene and attended Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene. She was the widow of Gilbert May. She leaves 12 direct living descendants. She was a native of Cincinnati, OH, a formerly lived in Columbia, KY, and was a resident of Campbellsville, KY, at the time of her death.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11amCT, at Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Dwayne Lobb and Bro. Ron Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, and 6am-8:30amCT, Wednesday at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and after 9amCT, Wednesday at the church.

Kenny O'Neal Beal, 53, Casey County, KY (1963-2016)

My Great Grandparents, Bill and Emmer Corbin Furkin in the accompanying photo, in the front row, with my Great Uncles Carl "Jam up" beside Ma Emmer and Coy beside Pa Bill. In the back row are my Great Uncles, Holland, Ural, John, my Grandmother and Mom's Mother, Mary Elizabeth Stotts, and my Great Aunts, Myrtle Robinson and Sophie Stotts.

Barbara Ann Fair, Casey Co., KY (1947-2016)

She was an avid collector of angels. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Wheeler Woodrum. Her husband of over 45 years, Stephen Fair, survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Barbara Ann Fair passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her home in Casey County, KY. She was 68 years old.

Funeral services are 9amCT/10amET, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, and will continue Tuesday from 7amCT/8aamET, until funeral service.
