Dr. Phil's Sunday School Class visits him; holds prayers

A couple of weeks ago several members of our Sunday School class that Dr. Phil was a member of were able to visit him and have prayers over him. He seemed to be more comfortable than the last time. We pray for him as a class and individually all the time. We certainly miss him. - Hunter

Lil' Kickers Academy sign-ups start 4 Aug 2016

The countdown for the "kick off" of Adair County Youth Soccer and the first set of dates for registration is a week away! Sign up on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 5pm-6pmCT or Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 9am-10amCT at Walter S. Reuling Soccer Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY, on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College. The cost for Lil' Kickers (Ages 3 & 4) $25 and Academy (Ages 5-13) $40 ($5 will be taken off for each additional child that registers after this first). Come and join the excitement! Letter: another take on the dying groundhogs

Pamela-the-outrageous came to mind when I read your letter about dying groundhogs in greater Fairplay.

The memory that popped to mind was from a seminar with a group of six or seven women around the lunch table. One of the women introduced herself and shared that she was in a continuous state of grieving, having lost three husbands in a row, the most recent just a few months ago.

Berea Voted # 1 in America's Top 10 Towns for Craft Lovers

Kentucky has two of Top 10 towns for crafts, with Berea at #1 and Louisville #10

For the past six weeks, and with over 47,789 Facebook votes tallied, craft lovers from all over the country have voted Berea as their #1 favorite town for crafts. Beating out much larger cities such as St. Petersburg, Florida (#2), Asheville, North Carolina (#7), Louisville, Kentucky (#10), and Northampton, Massachusetts (#8), Berea fans logged onto the American Craft Week website to vote.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 29, 2016) -- The Kentucky Arts Council has awarded almost $1.3 million in operating support to 93 arts organizations across the Commonwealth for the 2017 fiscal year through its Kentucky Arts Partnership (KAP) program.

FRANKFORT, KY (29 Jul 2015) -This is an exciting time for tourism in our region, as Campbellsville hosted the Carhart Bassmaster College Series National Championship at Green River Lake July 28-30. The college anglers, who qualified through regional tournaments, will be fishing for a chance to compete in the 2017 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro. A total of 89 teams from 62 colleges throughout the United States will be visiting our communities.

Mr. Carlwell (Freddie) Miller, Green County, KY (1929-2016)

He was a member of a highly regarded South Central Kentucky family. He was a resident of Green County, KY, at the time of his death. His final resting place will be in Metcalfe County, KY.

The funeral service for Mr. Carlwell "Freddie" Miller will be conducted at 1pmCT, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with full military honors presented by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard to follow at the Wisdom Cemetery in Edmonton, KY. Visitation will be from 9amCT until time of the service Saturday at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home.

Clifton N. Reeder, 84, Russell County, KY (1932-2016)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded family. He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Judith (Johnson) and Luther Reeder and the widower of Rejina Johnson Reeder. He leaves 18 direct and four step living descendants.

Funeral Services for Clifton N. Reeder will be Monday August 1, 2016 at 11amCT, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY with Bro. Bill Welker and Bro. Ken Charlton officiating. Friends may visit on Sunday, July 31, 2016 after 4pmCT, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Reeder Cemetery in Jamestown, KY.
