Tellechea comes to Lindsey Wilson from Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey.

Green River Animal Shelter had good March 2016

Adair County Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens gave the March 2016 report for the Green River Animal Shelter GRAS at Fiscal Court last night, Tuesday, April 12, 2016, for Kim Tucker, Director.

The shelter reported $2,330 in receipts, which includes $1,690.00 in adoption fees, $100 in surrender fees, donations of $10 and sponsorships of $530.00.

Prehistoric: A macabre story from 100 years ago

This bit of interesting if macabre (in a number of ways) Russell County history appeared as one long paragraph on the front page of the March 22nd, 1916 edition of the Adair County News. J.N. Page, mentioned in the introductory sentence, ran a drug store on the square in Columbia for many years. (In that era and for several decades after, the honorific "Dr." was accorded pharmacists as well as physicians.) The speaker, J.F. Montgomery, a lawyer, was 66 or 67 at the time of this telling.

COLUMBIA, KY (12 Apr 2016) The 25th-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team lost a top-25 matchup to sixth-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Egnew Park, 11-2.

Jan Carlos Ortiz and Miguel Reyes each recorded two hits for the Blue Raiders (28-17), while Alec Salcedo drove in a run and scored a run against the Bulldogs (30-9). Dustin Woody drove in the final Lindsey Wilson run.

Mrs. Shelia Gayle Dulworth Caldwell, Taylor Co., KY (1958-2016)

She was a former employee of the Fruit of the Loom factory in Campbellsville, a beloved mother, and a proud grandmother. She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Shelia Gayle (Dulworth) Caldwell, departed this life on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY after a lengthy illness.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Caldwell on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 10amCT/11amET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Brian Rafferty will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 14, from 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET.

Paul Daniel Peavley, 74, Hustonville, KY (1942-2016)

He was a farmer and a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Mike & Rena Wilson Peavley. His wife, Margaret Corhn Peavley, survives.

Human Rights Commission meets 25 Apr 2016; Agenda

The next meeting of the Adair County/City of Columbia Joint Commission on Human Rights will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 6pmCT in the City Council Meeting Room, City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, Kentucky.

The Agenda will include an update regarding personnel changes at the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights in Louisville as well as the resignation of the current Chairman Bobby Bowe of the local Commission.

The Commission will hopefully, Mr. Bowe says, select his successor. All members and the public are invited to attend.

The Blue Raiders conclude their regular season home schedule this weekend as they host Cumberlands (KY) for a four-game series at Lindsey Wilson Park, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY, starting on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 3pmCT.

COLUMBIA, KY (12 Apr 2016) - The seventh-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team picked up their 16th-straight victory after sweeping St. Catharine (Ky.) in a doubleheader at home on Tuesday, 3-0 and 7-2.

Sydney Fourman led the Blue Raiders (32-10, 17-3 Mid-South Conference) in the first game going 3-for-3 at the plate. Jenna Firestein paced the team in game two after going 3-for-4 at the dish with three runs and two RBIs. Cassie Kooker was a combined 3-for-5 over the two games with two runs and a pair of RBIs against the Patriots (21-27, 7-17 MSC).
