The Adair County Primary Center recently had a visit by Mr. Science himself, Jason Lindsey.

Our Family Resource Center sponsored the Hooked on Science Program to come to our school.

The program brings real world science connections to schools. Students were amazed at the activities brought to life before their eyes.

Mr. Bobby Lee Roach, Cumberland Co., KY native (1952-2016)

He was a native of Peytonsburg, KY, and a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana at the time of his death. He was the son of late Walter L. "Blue" and Judith M. (Spear) Roach. He leaves three direct living descendants.

COLUMBIA, KY - (Sun 10 Apr 2016) - The 24th-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team snapped their five-game losing streak on Sunday as they swept Cumberland (Tenn.), 8-2 and 6-2, at Egnew Park.

Edgar Lebron led the Blue Raiders (28-16, 9-6 Mid-South Conference) going 4-for-7 at the plate with two RBIs and four runs scored. Aaron Ashton went 2-for-5 on the day, with both hits coming in the second game and Ashton's two RBIs also came in the second half of the doubleheader.

LWC Women's Tennis sweeps Shawnee State 9-0

PORTSMOUTH, OHIO (Sun 10 Apr 2016) - For the second day in a row, the Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team completed a perfect shutout sweep of a Mid-South Conference opponent, this time taking down Shawnee State (Ohio) 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Linda Gaskins, Russell County, KY (1941-2016)

She was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of Indiana at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Oris & Lola Faye Simpson Dunbar and the widow of William Ovel Dunbar. She leaves 16 direct living descendants. She was a cashier at a grocery store and a member of Jamestown Church of Christ.

James Claude Miller: The man who built Miller-Spickard house

The Miller family has provided many distinguished leaders to South Central Kentucky. In this article, Jim recalls, in this capsule, man about the life of James Claude Miller, who "was an architect, consulting engineer and general contractor for a great number of structures," and was the designer and contractor for an Adair County's architectural icon, the Miller-Spickard House at Crocus.

The Miller-Spickard house at Crocus was built 105 years ago as a residence for the Bryan Sims (B.S.) Miller family. The newsletter from that community in the June 14, 1911 News mentioned that Mr. Miller "has rolled aside his old dwelling, and is replacing it with a new one, which will be the nicest building in town."

Some three months later, the Crocus correspondent commented, "Mr. B.S. Miller's residence is nearing completion. When completed this will be the most modern and elegant country residence in this part of the state, and the character of work being done speaks well for the designer and constructor, Mr. Claude Miller."

LWC's Chanel Roberts wins shot put at Cumberlands Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, KY – (Sat 9 Apr 2016) Chanel Roberts won the shot put event for the Lindsey Wilson women’s outdoor track and field team on Saturday at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational.

Roberts topped the field of 34 competitors with her distance of 13.33 meters, beating out the second-place distance of 12.75 meters.

Edith Spickard was my wife Laura June Miller"s great aunt. Edith was the youngest of 10 children of Brian Miller who used to keep a large general store adjacent to his home in Crocus . My wife Laura's aunt Nellie (Miller) Winchester was actually a niece older than her aunt Edith!
