Attorney General Conway warns against storm-related price gouging and scams

By Allison Martin, Communications Director
Office of Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway

Attorney General Jack Conway is putting Kentucky on notice that price-gouging businesses and scam artists preying on flood victims will not be tolerated. Gov. Steve Beshear today declared a state of emergency in the wake of this week's severe thunderstorms and flooding. He also triggered the price-gouging provisions at the request of Attorney General Conway. The provisions will remain in place for 30 days.

The recent storms have resulted in flooding and widespread damage across the central and eastern parts of Kentucky. Additionally, at least one death is blamed on the flooding and several people are still missing in Johnson County.
