Wants to apply for one of sewing operator jobs at Carhartt

I tried to apply for a sewing operator at Carhartt like the ad stated but they only have an opening in Edmonton for a plant Engineer and I am not qualified for that. I tried to do it over the internet I have not been to the factory. Maury Lewis

Letter Carriers annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

On Saturday, May 14, 2011, U. S. Postal Carriers in Columbia and Adair County will again help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County.

Now in its 19th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive. Last year carriers in Columbia and Adair County collected just over 5000 lbs of food which was delivered to the Adair County Food Pantry located at 203 S Monroe ST, Columbia, KY.
Contributors may also drop off food items at the Columbia Post Office located at 800 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY any time this week.

Columbia man arrested, charged with making meth

The Adair County Sheriff's Office was called to 702 Rutledge RD, approximately 10 miles east of Columbia, KY, to a domesticdispute. Once on the scene, the Sheriff was informed that Ronald Gadberry, 43,was manufacturing meth. A search warrant was obtained and theproperty was searched. Found were ingredients to manufacture methand evidence that meth was being made at the residence. From the office of Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss

Columbia and Jamestown, KY men arrested following traffic stop

A traffic stop on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 by Columbia Police officers resulted in two men being arrested on drug charges.

Christopher M. Corbin, 27, of Jamestown, KY, was charged with disregarding a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barry D. McGaha, 45, of Columbia, was charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrests were made by Columbia Police Sergeant Gary Roy and officer Bruce McCloud. Assisting was Adair County Deputy Sheriff Justin Claywell.Both men were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. -from Columbia Police Department, Jason Cross, Chief

Robert Lee Melson, 60, of the Cundiff community, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 5:54pmET, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral service will be Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Michael Carnes officiating. Burial in Burchett Cemetery, 67 Burchett Cemetery RD, Columbia, KY. Visitation is after 3pmCT, Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.

Great Morning, Everyone. Hurray!!!!! Michele is doing very well. She has been walking up and down the hall and is finally keeping food down. I'm sure she will go home sometime today if things continue this way. Thanks to all of you for your many wonderful thoughts and prayers. How much you all are appreciated is indescribale. Adair County Fiscal Court Report, May 10, 2011

In Tuesday night, May 10, 2011 fiscal court action (Please watch for additional details):
  • Six of seven magistrates vote to cease allowing road employees to take home trucks
  • Court cuts stipend to A-team to less than one-fourth, but makes up part of loss with personal out of pocket contributions
  • Court authorizes letters to Metcalfe and Russell on GRAS contribution
  • Borrowing for purchase of Christian Life Center approved
  • Court declares four vehicles surplus; to take sealed bids
  • Court approves re-apportionment committee, votes for contract with LCADD
  • Three part-time 911 dispatchers hired
  • Magistrates vote to use State Contract for blacktop, crushed stone

Following praise from most members of the court for the work done by the Adair County Road Department, the Adair County Fiscal Court voted 6-1 to cease the practice of allowing county road crew members to drive road department trucks home, except for the county road supervisor. Only Fourth District Magistrate Perry Reeder voted in favor of the road department.

The 20th Annual Crusade for Children Golf Tournament will be this Sunday, May 15, 2011, at The Pines, 275 Country Club RD, Columbia, KY. The Columbia/Adair County Fire Department encourages everyone to turnout and support this event. A half scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is now at The Center for Rural Development, 2292 S. Highway 27, 2011, Somerset, KY, from May 9-14, 2011 Adair, Casey (with updates coming), Cumberland, and Russell County Lists are posted.

We'll be adding lists of Green, Metcalfe, and Taylor Countians who gave their all in the Vietnam War and whose names are on the wall, as received (or researched by ColumbiaMagazine). We hope to have a handy, printable list of Veterans from the Seven-County CM area, with Panel and Line Number for location on the Wall, before the arrival of the display May 9, 2011.
