As of 3pmCT, on May 11, 2011 the boil water advisory for residents for
all the Public Square, out Campbellsville Street down to Lindsey Wilson Street, out Burkesville Street down to Tutt Street and out Greensburg Street to Wall Street
has been lifted by the Division of Water Columbia office. This means your water is safe for human consumption. You no longer have to boil your water.

Adair Hospital Board treats Westlake employees to lunch today

The Adair County Hospital District Board of Trustees treated the Westlake Regional Hospital staff and employees and guests to cookout today, Wednesday, May 11, 2011.

Hospital Interim CEO Rick Brown estimated that approximately 400 would be served when the cookout is completed with supper tonight.

Arc of KY/Arc Lake Cumberland offer free training session

Training in Somerset, KY designed to help caregivers of individuals with disabilities to plan for the future of their loved one

The Arc of Kentucky, Inc. and The Arc of Lake Cumberland are pleased to invite caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities to attend a free training session in Somerset, Kentucky on May 21, 2011, where they will learn how to plan for the future of the individual with disabilities. The training "The Future Is Now" will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, 50 Stevie Lynn DR, in Somerset, KY from 9:30am-12:30pmET/8:30am/11:30amCT.

Caregivers will learn how to create a vision for the desired future for the individual with disabilities. The individuals and other family members and/or friends are encouraged to attend and assist in the process. Each family will receive a resource notebook with valuable information about wills, special needs trusts, guardianship, financial matters and services.

The Adair County Middle School SBDM Council is accepting nominations for two (2) parent members for the 2011-12 school year. Persons eligible are parent/legal guardian of a child who will attend Adair Co. Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year. The term will be for the 2011-2012 school year. Nomination forms may be obtained at ACMS and must be returned by Monday, May 16, 2011, at 2pmCT. Voting will take place on Friday, May 20, 2011, from 11am until 4pm in the office of Adair County Middle School, 322 Gen. John Adair DR, Columbia, KY. The funeral for Campbellsville University Board of Trustees member, Dr. J. Chester Badgett, 96, will be at 10amET/9amCT, Friday, May 13, 2011, at Campbellsville Baptist Church, 420 N. Central AV, Campbellsville, KY, by the Rev. Harold Pike, Dr. Skip Alexander, Dr. James E. Jones and the Revs. Ken Forman and Robert Oldham. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, West Main ST, Campbellsville, KY.Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pmCT, Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Campbellsville Baptist Church.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to the Badgett-Cloyd Scholarship at Campbellsville University, Annie Armstrong Offering, Gideons or Campbellsville Baptist Church and may be made at the Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville.Dr. Badgett, who was a trustee for 42 years, died Tuesday, May 10 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.Please remember his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Monday, May 9, 2011, officially marked the start of spring finals week at Lindsey Wilson College, but some students also took advantage of the warm spring weather to take a break from studying for final examinations. LWC's 93rd commencement ceremony will be at 10amCT on Saturday, May 14, at Biggers Sports Center. Adair County native and LWC alumna Hilda Legg will deliver the commencement address.

A half scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is now at The Center for Rural Development, 2292 S. Highway 27, 2011, Somerset, KY, from May 9-14, 2011 Adair, Casey (with updates coming), Cumberland, and Russell County Lists are posted.

We'll be adding lists of Green, Metcalfe, and Taylor Countians who gave their all in the Vietnam War and whose names are on the wall, as received (or researched by ColumbiaMagazine). We hope to have a handy, printable list of Veterans from the Seven-County CM area, with Panel and Line Number for location on the Wall, before the arrival of the display May 9, 2011. LWC Residence Life serves Midnight Breakfast

COLUMBIA, KY (2011-05-11) - More than 575 Lindsey Wilson College undergraduate students refueled late Tuesday night at the colleges semi-annual "Midnight Breakfast." Held in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, the two-hour event - which actually begins at 1amCT - gives students to a study break while enjoying a late-night meal of breakfast food. Members of the LWC Office of Residence Life serve the students.

Spring finals are under way this week at LWC; the colleges 93rd commencement ceremony will be at 10amCT on Saturday, May 14, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard DR, Columbia, KY.

Breast Cancer surgery today: Prayers requested

Mark and Michele Hale would like to be more involved with Relay for Life this year, and still hope they can be involved in some way

Until now only our closest friends and relatives have been aware that my beautiful wife of 20 years has breast cancer. On Wednesday (2011-05-11) Michele will be having surgery to remove the cancer and hopefully eliminate the possibility of it returning or spreading. Chemotherapy is planned in the weeks to come.
