    Army, World War I, Born Weed, Ky., December 1896. His family lived in Adair Co. in 1900 and 1910 and the Cave Ridge community in Metcalfe County by mid-1918. He was billeted at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station, Kansas City, Missouri in January 1920; by February 1921, he had attained the grade of Corporal and was serving in the First Military Police Company, stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
