Collector $10 bill signed by Bruce Montgomery

2023-09-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
One of the local items in the collections at Goldmann & Silvermann is this rare $10 bill signed by Bruce Montgomery before First National Bank closed. (after the posting of this feature, readers advised us to look again - there were two local signatures on this bill - the second being Braxton Massie. History writer JIM also shared that it carries the designation "series of 1929" (to the upper left and lower right of Hamilton's effigy, so it was printed between then and 1935, when the last National Bank notes were issued. In that era, the "series of" date indicated the year a major design change occurred, not the specific year a bill was printed.)
