Deputy Corbin was on Melson Ridge when shooting occurred



2006-06-12 - Adair Sheriffs Office. Columbia, KY - Photo CM staff. DEPUTY SHERIFF TOMMY CORBIN, shown here on Monday, June 12, 2006 in the Adair County Sheriff's office, was investigating another incident, this one on Melson Ridge, when he was radioed to be on the lookout for a Dodge D50 pickup driven by Willie Paul Grant and was told of the shooting at Beech Grove Baptist Church. Corbin met the truck and gave chase to the Sand Lick area near the Adair, Russell and Cumberland lines. Deputy Corbin did pursue Mr. Grant up the creek bed. They had a brief encounte, but Mr. Grant flet into the woods. Willie Paul Grant was captured the next morning, Sunday, back within a couple of miles of Beech Grove Separate Church, on the Buell Collins Road.
