A date has now been set - June 19, 2026 - for the Mark Twain Storytelling Festival, a first annual event in Columbia. Coordination has brought together the strengths of the City of Columbia, the Arts Administration senior class at Lindsey Wilson University and the Adair County History and Genealogy Center. All were represented at a Thursday meeting at City Hall. From left to right, back to front: LWU's Tezon Mitchell, Professor Robert Brock, Leeshawn Johnson; Gage Carnes, Atavya Fowler, Leif Honaker; Shiane Lussier, Kassidy Phelps, Sabrina Ruiz.

At left is Mike Watson, historian and genealogist, who was asked to introduce stories. At right is Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots for the City. Also present were Darlene Campbell who volunteered to portray Jane Lampton, complimenting Robert Brock's Mark Twain, Billy Pickett who volunteered to share his expertise and equipment in lighting and sound, and Linda Waggener volunteering Columbia Magazine for promotional writing and pictures toward the goal of helping expand the literary arts in Adair County.
