Travel: Gaudi, LWU and Austin, Texas (2 of 2)
2025-09-23 - Austin, TX - Photo by Veronica Arnold. Veronica writes, "We have an international student that we welcome into our lives with a program from LWU. (Side note, ISP is a wonderful program more should get involved with) One student is from Spain, and brought us a lovely book about a Spanish architect named Antoni Gaudi. I found it very fascinating and learned a lot. Saying someone was wearing very loud and conspicuous things have been called very 'gaudi.' Now I know where that term comes from. While we were in Austin, Texas, we observed two places where the style and decorations was clearly inspired by Gaudi. At the Austin Bergstrom International Airport and at Austin's Science and Nature Center in Zilker Park.
I attached two pictures but there were more examples of this mosaic tiles and natural shapes being employed. So somehow a student from Lindsey taught us something that we then were able to identify as we traveled in the U.S. Very cool!"

Dry creek bed shows seriousness of drought
2025-09-23 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The creek's name isn't officially "Dry Branch" but it sure was dry before the rain began Tuesday. You can tell you're in Adair County by the former Judge's red-tipped bridge wall. Daniel Wilson shared on his Storm Alert Center page that we are possibly going to get four inches of rain in the next few days. It is a welcome sight.
