The great smiles of these two young men give us a positive start to the first week of July 2024. Brady, 3, and Ozzy, 1, are the sons of Adam and Ashley Capps of Columbia. Grandparents are Doug and Lisa Capps of Russell Springs and Mary Lou and Cary Stryker of Elizabethtown. You'll find their Dad at Don Franklin Ford when you need a new vehicle.

Mullens graduates Public Safety Dispatch Academy

Bailey Mullens was among 27 dispatchers from across the state to graduate from the Public Safety Dispatch Academy on June 28, 2024. Graduates of the academy have successfully completed a highly structured and comprehensive curriculum to satisfy mandated training requirements. The graduates of Class 158 received 164 hours of academy instruction to satisfy these requirements over four weeks.

Literary arts in Adair has lost a friend

The literary arts in Adair County, the History and Research Center at the library and our Columbia Magazine family have lost a friend, hard worker and supporter this week - Philip Hanna. Phil is pictured here at the recent Arts Council Writer's Day, working to help his friend and fellow member Darlene Campbell lead the first of its kind event in Columbia. Philip Hanna's knowledge, kind, sharing spirit and research expertise will simply be impossible to replace.
