Epicurean Kentuckian: Saturday morning breakfast

Mike writes of this breakfast sourced largely from the Farmer's Market, "Country ham, Shady Ridge duck eggs scrambled, fried (nearly) green tomato, dark bread toast, Donna Jones' blackberries, and Old Columbia's coffee. Ed Waggener would approve, I believe."

Birds of Kentucky: Belted Kingfisher

I watched this belted kingfisher return to his perch repeatedly over about 15 minutes, leaving to dive for small fish. He ended up well-fed on the morning, but on this particular dive he came back empty-handed.

Attorney Derrick Helm is on WKU Board of Regents

Governor Andy Beshear appointed HSW Attorney Derrick Helm of Jamestown to the Board of Regents of Western Kentucky University. He grew up in Russell County and is a 2006 WKU graduate. He is a 2009 graduate of Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Since then, he has devoted his career to serving the legal needs of residents of South Central Kentucky. He is the former City Attorney for Columbia. He serves as General Counsel to the Lake Cumberland Area Development District and the Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency and is a member of the Kentucky Lottery Corporation Board.
