 2024-08-18 - Fairplay, KY - Photo by Clayton Hadley. Clayton writes, "I wanted to share a rare photo that I captured on 8-15-2024 during my morning walk on an old country road in the Fairplay area. It's a female opposum carrying her litter on her back. As she was walking if one fell off she would stop and look down at it until it climbed back upon her back and then she would walk on until another one would fall off again."

They are talking all things Adair County, but highlighting all of our amazing trails and outdoor recreation. They are among the volunteers - different every day - talking about our special area at the Fair. Adair Tourism Director Paige Nickel writes, "Thank you both for offering to volunteer this year!"

On the footbridge at SW, once a swinging bridge

The little town of Sulphur Well on KY Hwy 70 in northern Metcalfe County, KY has been a tourist attraction for over a century, and the annual homecoming draws big crowds. At one time, the big attraction was the perceived health benefits from drinking the sulphur water which came from "The Gum," the artesian well in the left of the photo. Today more and more people come for walks across the footbridge, picnicking, or to visit the people who feel a connection.

Birds of Kentucky: American White Pelican
 2024-08-16 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Pen. American White Pelicans are sometimes seen in great numbers on Kentucky Lake in Western Kentucky, but are not frequent visitors to the rest of the state. However, this solitary bird has been observed at Falls of the Ohio just across the river from Louisville since late July.
