Doug Peterson of Columbia proudly represented the U.S. Coast Guard as the only attendee from that branch of the military at LWC's 22 Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. The event was held at the Adair County VFW Post 6097 on Monday, November 11, 2024, with more than 200 veterans and their families in attendance.

Over 200 attend annual LWC Luncheon to Honor Veterans

Lindsey Wilson College hosted its 22nd Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Monday, November 11, 2024, welcoming 203 veterans and their families.

The event, held at the Adair County VFW Post 6097, was catered by Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. More than two dozen LWC students and staff were on hand to honor and serve the veterans.

Neal Gold with his quilt from Joyful Hearts Quilt Guild

Former LWC Vice President and Director of Information Systems Neal Gold was one of 17 lucky recipients of the handmade quilts from the Joyful Hearts Quilt Guild on Monday at the annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon hosted by Lindsey Wilson College. Gold, who served in the Navy, retired from LWC in 1998.

Lucy LU entertains at Veterans Appreciation Luncheon

LWC freshman art major Lucy LU, from Tokyo, Japan, entertained veterans with a piano solo at LWC's 22nd Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Monday. Looking on is LWC Associate Professor of Music & Director of Choral Programs Gerald Chafin, who also directed a performance by the LWC choral ensembles.

Gossamer Webs

Roldcat writes, "This time of year, spiders release webs of silk from their abdomens and let them fly through the air on windy days.

Catching the sunlight just right, these gossamer silk strands are shown to have clung to the tree tops of a maple tree that has shed its leaves and the silk strands are blowing in the breezes."
