Mayor Pamela Hoots meets with Rogers Scholars

On Monday, July 14, 2025, Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots and Trey Stephens had the honor of hosting 58 Rogers Scholar Students studying at Lindsey Wilson University.

The Mayor spoke to the scholars about growth in Columbia, entrepreneurship, civic involvement, intergovernmental cooperation, and then answered questions on a variety of subjects.

CACVFD responds to fire on Jones Chapel Road

The Columbia - Adair County Fire Department was dispatched at 04:38 hours on Tuesday morning, July 15, 2025, to 380 Jones Chapel Road for a single wide mobile home with heavy smoke & fire conditions showing. The fire was contained to the original structure. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

One lane traffic has ended on the Public Square

The big boom that helped get workers up to the top of the historic Adair County Courthouse clock tower last week is now parked in the City parking lot off Burkesville Street. The signs indicating one-lane traffic have been removed from the Square.

Curious kids make a 911 call

Columbia Police Officer Travis Bell responded to a disconnected emergency call last week expecting to provide a welfare check. Instead, he reported finding these curious kids with big questions and even bigger smiles. It was a simple moment, but one he said that helped build trust and connection between the police and the community he protects and serves.
