CU announces Dr. Jeanette Parker in leadership

Dr. Jeanette Parker has been named Campbellsville University provost and vice president for academic affairs.

She has been serving as interim vice president for academic affairs for the past eight months and has been part of the University for over 30 years, most recently as a professor of psychology and dean of faculty. Parker began work at what was then Campbellsville College in May 1987 as an admissions counselor.

As provost, Parker is Campbellsville University's chief academic officer.

Adair County Fiscal Court January meeting

After negative statewide news coverage of the September, 2024 Adair County Fiscal Court meeting, tempers settled down and agendas progressed with relative calm through the holiday season. The first meeting of the new year Tuesday, January 28, 2025, however, went on for nearly three hours with outbursts and shouting over one another.

Historic photo of Columbia Baptist Church

A photo of the Columbia Baptist Church as depicted in the Historic Churches 2025 calendar by the Adair County Genealogical Society. (Mike says, "We still have a few calendars--going fast!")

This photo was of the church that was built about 1878 and removed in 1915 for a new brick construction. That brick structure burned in the late 1920s, and the present CBC building was erected.

The next regular meeting of the Adair County Genealogical Society will be at 5pmCT on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Adair Genealogy & History Research Center, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, and will focus on efforts to establish a local SAR chapter.

Congratulations to Addison Morgan

MCHS junior Addison Morgan is one of four area winners of the annual "Government in Action" Youth Tour. Addison will travel to the state capital in March and the nation's capital in June.

For the third year in a row, a Metcalfe County High School student will represent Farmers RECC on its annual Frankfort and Washington Youth Tour.
