Fire Department voted the 2025 Volunteer of the Year 2025-08-05 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Stacey Biggs. These are the nominees for the Volunteer of the Year. The Columbia-Adair County Fire Department got the top vote for the 2025 Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year award. The Columbia Fire Department and the Adair County Fire Department are two separate entities but share equipment and the building on Merchant Street in Columbia. They also share fire fighters when the need arises, as it often does. When they're not out fighting fires in our community and sometimes even surrounding ones, they are training to be able to provide us with top notch fire protection. Or they are holding fundraisers, like their annual Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction or participating in road blocks, all to raise money for the WHAS Crusade for Children which seems to set a new record each year in money raised... and of course all of that money comes back to Adair County for our special needs children. -- From introductions by Ellen Zornes, Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce Read More... | Permalink | Comments?
