Birds of Kentucky: Little Blue Heron

A juvenile Little Blue Heron had a very successful afternoon at Lake Shelby this past week. He caught a bluegill just minutes before grabbing this frog. Another juvenile joined him the next day. Juveniles are all white except for dark wingtips, and don't get their distinctive blue and purple coloring until they reach adulthood. Comments | Permalink
