Fiber specialist Robert Hostetler explained the newest internet and phone technology of DUO Broadband at the July meeting of the Columbia Adair Chamber of Commerce. He demonstrated how, after a break (someone accidentally digging through a cable, for instance) technicians must strip away protective coatings, clean the glass with alcohol, precisely cut the ends and then use a fusion splicer to permanently reconnect two broken fibers.
