The City of Columbia held its annual Duck Derby on the same day of the famous Kentucky Derby. Lance Burton and Officer Trevor Foster threw the ducks into the water when it was time for the race to begin. Normally held on Russell Creek, due to the high water from recent rains, it was held this year on Bull Run Creek behind the home of Joe Lynn Barbee. The DeMolay Group caught the ducks at the end of the race and duck Number 70, owned by Troy Kimbler, was the 2025 winner.
