Robert writes, "Here some hikers are included in the photograph to give some scale to the surroundings. This is the geological phenomenon known as the Vortex. It's only about 20 miles Northwest of St. George Utah. The moderate 2.5 mile round trip hike is very fun as well as beautiful, with rewarding elevated views at the end.
We saw three of these vortexes on this mountain top. This is the largest and deepest of the three. If you look closely a little above center of the pic you'll see an outcropping of white sandstone with a small line (the road to the Vortex). The trailhead starts here." Comments | Permalink
